chennai: dravida munnetra kazhagam (dmk) president m. karunanidhi on wednesday fired another salvo at his arch rival and aiadmk general secretary j. jayalalitha, alleging that her `scant respect' for law was evident from her statement that she would be back as the chief minister and that the election of party mla o. panneerselvam as the tamil nadu chief minister was only an interim arrangement. in a statement here criticising jayalalitha for allowing party ministers and cadres to stage demonstrations against the supreme court direction asking her to step down as chief minister, he alleged that this only showed that jayalalitha had no respect for the law. karunanidhi charged that she was only deceiving the people of the southern districts by claiming that panneerselvam was made the cm as he hailed from one of the southern districts. he also charged that jayalalitha had asked her party workers to call off their agitation against the supreme court direction only after being told by her legal advisers, including a former apex court judge who was himself facing impeachment on corruption charges, that it could harm the aiadmk government itself.
